Homeopathy is a great resource for your first aid kit – especially when you have kids!
It’s safe: treat bumps, bruises, colds and colic naturally!
It gives you control: Natural options for common complaints and for when there are typically no solutions but waiting for your kid to get better (think bruises, minor colds, teething!)
Manage the small stuff to prevent the big stuff! Keep colds at bay so they don't turn into infections. Manage teething pain so baby (and parents!) can sleep and avoid colds.
In order to give parents an easy starting point for using homeopathy at home, I’ve put together 5 remedies to have on hand for common childhood complaints. Check them out below!
Arnica
For after trauma: falls, concussions, injuries, shock, surgery, dentist appointments, car accidents.
Any pain that is bruised or sore.
Aconite
For shock or fright – especially if the child is then in a state of anxiety/fear.
Great for: first sign of colds, anxiety after a fright, fever with cold extremities and anxiety.
Example: A child gets separated from mom in the store and hours after being found he develops a minor cold. Aconite cleared it right up!
Belladonna
For ear infections, fevers, headaches, sunstroke, colic, colds.
Symptoms focused in the head/face/ears: Red, hot, throbbing, eyes glisten, hands and feet are cold.
Symptoms come on suddenly, intensely.
Similar to Aconite but hotter and more delirious – Aconite will be anxious.
Pulsatilla
For ear infections, teething, upper respiratory illness, chicken pox, nighttime coughs, pink eye, tummy aches (from fatty foods!).
This child needs to be cuddled and cared for; very weepy and whiny, desires attention.
Chamomilla
Teething, colic, fever, ear infections.
Like an angry Pulsatilla: this child wants attention but then turns it away, doesn’t know what they want, very capricious, irritable, inconsolable.
Very sensitive to pain and pain makes them angry.
Teething will often be accompanied by fever, diarrhea, and anger.
These five remedies are great to stock up on for minor acute conditions, but always remember to seek medical/professional care if conditions worsen or do not ameliorate. Chronic conditions should always be monitored by a professional homeopath.
